A lot can change over the course of a decade. That has certainly been the case for Avanade. Back in 2003, we had just established our company presence in India. Today, we have seven offices across India and roughly 10,000 professionals in India.
In terms of world events, the year 2003 marked completion of the Human Genome Project, the first time the Euro hit $1.18 since its introduction in 1999, and the launch of iTunes, which sold 10 million songs in the first four months. There’s no doubt that the technology landscape looked very different 10 years ago: a CD-ROM shredder and camera phones made Time’s list of Best Inventions of 2003.
At the time, many companies in the IT industry were hustling to move their development teams offshore and projects revolved around infrastructure and business systems. Today, it’s even more complex as technology delivery becomes a top priority.
The rising adoption of cloud, mobile and social technologies and the growth of big data compound the challenge of staying current. The stakes are higher, the innovation engine is constantly revving and the IT industry is truly global.
